World Environment Day celebrated on 5th June every year. It is the Principe of United Nations vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of our environment which is our Mighty Earth. It has been a flagship campaign for raising awareness on emerging from environmental issues to marine pollution, human overpopulation, and global warming, to sustainable consumption and wildlife crime.
Each year the world environment day has a new theme based on which issue has to care more as compared to others.
World Environment Day campaign was established to bring awareness among the people regarding environmental issues like; Deforestation, Water Pollution, Population growth, Acid Rain, Overfishing, Air pollution, Waste production, Ozon layer depletion, Lower biodiversity, Polar ice melts, Climate change, species extinction, soil degradation,  etc..

Theme for world environment day 2020 is "Celebrate Biodiversity", and will be hosted by Colombia in partnership with Germany.
Colombia is the country with the worlds second-highest biodiversity in the world, after Brazil. As the report of 2016, 56,343 species are registered in Colombia. It holds 10% of the planet's biodiversity. 
Colombia ranks first in the bird and orchid species diversity and seconds in plants, butterflies, freshwater fish, and amphibians.
2019 world environment day theme was "Beat Air Pollution" and it is hosted by China.

When was World Environment Day started?

This is our 46th world environment day.
World environment day was established by the UN General Assembly in the year 1972 on the first day of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. Two years letter, in 1974 the first world environment day was held with the theme; 
Only One Earth
Even though the world environment day celebration has been held annually since 1974. In 1987 the idea for rotating the center of these activities through selecting different host countries began.
For the first time Russia hosted the world environment day, in 1998 and the theme is "For life on Earth -- Save our Seas".
Despite all our technological advancements, we are completely dependent on healthy and vibrant ecosystems for our water, food, medicines,, clothes, fuel, shelter, and energy. ----Mrema

Biodiversity ensures that we have fertile soil, as well as a variety of foods, including fruits and vegetables to eat. It is the foundation of most of our industries and livelihoods and helps regulate climate through carbon storage and regulating rainfall. It also filters our air and water and mitigates the impact of natural disasters such as landslides and coastal storms. 
Healthy ecosystems can protect the spread of disease: Where native biodiversity can protect for some zoonotic diseases can be lowered. ---- United Nations Environment Programme(UNEP) biodiversity expert Doreen Robinson.

Nature is in crisis, threatened by biodiversity and habitat loss, global heating, and toxic pollution. Failure to act is failing humanity. Addressing the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and protecting ourselves against future global threats requires sound management of hazardous medical and chemical waste; strong and global stewardship of nature and biodiversity; and a clear commitment to “building back better”, creating green jobs and facilitating the transition to carbon-neutral economies. Humanity depends on action now for a resilient and sustainable future.

     The mighty planet gives us food, breathable air, water to drink, and a habitable environment where we can survive comfortably. On the day of the environment, we have that holy chance to serve our mighty planet/environment and show the caring for our nature. 
     On the world environment day, we all take a day off from our work. And join various campaigns to spread awareness about environment protection. We all knew that the main reason for pollution and other problems in our earth is no other than deforestation, so let's plant a tree on this holy day. These types of little things can make a very big change in our life.

It aims to protect the natural environment forever on the earth for the healthy possibility of life.
